They’re rolling out the red carpet for a new casino in Bethlehem, Pa. And the green carpet and the beige and the off-white, too. And UBC members are getting trained to do the work.

Instructors from INSTALL Philadelphia & Vicinity are holding a series of training and certification sessions in preparation for the opening of the new gaming palace in the city of 72,000 in the Lehigh Valley in the eastern part of the Keystone State.

High-end carpet such as Ulster Axminster will be installed and the KOOL Glide technique for seaming the carpets is being reviewed in the training sessions, said Patrick McGinley, coordinator of the INSTALL Philadelphia & Vicinity program.

The $879 million Sands BethWorks Casino is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2009 on 126 acres of land formerly occupied by Bethlehem Steel.
