Leah Peters Gets Third-Place Win in Canadian National Competition

Showing her construction skills, Sister Leah Peters from Manitoba placed third for Carpentry in the UBC Canadian National Apprenticeship Competition that was held in British Columbia. This was a two-day event which required writing a theory exam, illustrating with a leveling instrument, and building the project. These pictures highlight Leah’s progress and precision.

But this is not Leah’s first win. In June 2018, she won a building contest hosted by the Carpentry Trade Improvement Trust Fund (CTITF). In this contest, Leah competed against 3 other Local 343 members who had similar qualifications. CLICK HERE to see what she built.

Leah’s success in both contests is a testament to her hard work and determination. A member of Local 343 since 2017, Leah recently graduated from her Apprenticeship and successfully passed the Inter-Provincial Red Seal Exam; obtaining her status as a Certified Carpenter.  Leah’s love for the trades has evolved while working alongside two important mentors; her father from the start and Brian Doll for five years.

Leah is excited about her future and looks forward to continued success in the trades.
