The UBC welcomes veterans to its ranks and stands up for its members when they are called up to the military.
Two free programs are available for veterans transitioning out of the military who are looking for good paying jobs with excellent benefits including healthcare and retirement. Earn as you learn and start a rewarding career as a skilled tradesperson. Training is specially designed for veterans at no cost.
Helmets to Hardhats not only places vets on a fast track to union apprenticeship, but most importantly into a career. It is a free, nonprofit program that connects transitioning military service members and veterans with quality career opportunities in the construction industry. The training is completely free with direct entry and 1-year credit into our Millwright or Carpenter apprenticeship programs. No GI bill. Work where you live or travel to where your skills are needed in essential industries like construction, power plants, petrochemical, mining, automotive, aerospace, process plants, highway construction, interior systems, and more. Your MOS may have already prepared you, but no experience is necessary. For more information about start dates and locations, go to: CLICK HERE
The UBC also supports current members when they are called up to active duty by waiving their dues and keeping them on the membership rolls.
