The Carpenters International Training Center (ITC) is a thriving testament to the Brotherhood’s commitment to skills and productivity, and to building strength as a union and an industry partner.

A Testament to the United Brotherhood of Carpenters’ Commitment to Training

In 2018, the ITC completed phase 6 of construction, which expanded the facility to over 1.2 million square feet. With this expansion, the ITC now features increased guest accommodations, shops, large scale conference spaces, classrooms and state-of-the-art training areas.

The Carpenters International Training Fund (CITF)

The CITF and its affiliated funds invest more than $200 million a year to develop and deliver training, enhance knowledge and skill sets, and create new opportunities for UBC members.

The ongoing commitment of the CITF provides the resources needed to:

  • Develop content that keeps union carpenters and signatory contractors competitive
  • Facilitate the development of curriculum with real-time input from contractors, industry experts and product and equipment manufacturers
  • Deliver training through a network of over 250 centers across North America

UBC Department of Education and Training (DET)

Established in 2001, the DET provides programming to UBC members to enhance and develop their skills in communication, leadership, management and more, which help support their hard skills for trade.

Some of the key programs administered by the DET include:

  • Journeyman Leader – A leadership program which allows veteran members to engage and assist newer members in the development of coaching, mentorship and communication skills
  • Foreman Training – 5-day skills building course which examines and addresses the various roles and responsibilities associated with the roles on jobsites
  • Collaborative Leader – Program focuses on fostering leadership, communication, entrepreneurship, coaching and collaboration among jobsite manager (general contractors, facility managers, owners and more)
