Local 290 Sisters Talk Carpentry with Girl Scouts

The Sisters of Local 290 know that it’s never too early to begin talking to girls about Carpentry careers. So, on November 25, 2019, they invited the Girl Scouts of America to come to the Hauppauge, NY Training Facility for a tour and a woodworking project. The Sister volunteers were Nicole Grodner, Michelle Mermigas, Maria Schneider, and Shanise Terry.

During their visit, each girl assembled a birdhouse, which they were able to take home once completed. The girls also had a chance to hear the Sisters talk about their jobs and about career opportunities for female Carpenters.

It was a very positive and rewarding experience for everyone.
