Sisters Help Sisters with “Survival Skills”

Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship Program (CJAP) instructor Lynda Drendel teamed with several STLKC female journeymen to teach an eight hour “Survival Skills” course. Designed to enhance entry-level apprentice skills, the course was made possible by a grant from the Missouri Women in Trades (MoWiT) organization.

Elizabeth Barton, journeymen carpenter and MoWiT president says, “This program has great potential to help women thrive in a well-paying career in the Building Trades.”

A quote from second term apprentice Lizzy, supports Barton’s belief, “Having three instructors reviewing skills, giving tips, and being supportive really helped. It was a great day!”

As these pictures show, the instructors had an attentive and enthusiastic audience.
