Mark G. McGriff has been a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters since 1994. He started his career as a residential carpenter in Chicago, Illinois, before moving to Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1997 McGriff was hired as an organizer for the Indiana Regional Council, where he later served in several other positions, including Senior Organizer, Director of Organizing and Chief of Staff.
In 2012 McGriff was elected as Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters. In 2019 he became UBC Midwestern District Vice President.
McGriff and his wife, Lynnette, reside in Columbus, Indiana. They have three children.
